We travel for this tea.

Premium teas, chosen at peak season from the best gardens, mountains, and growers that craft them.

A scenic view of rolling green hills covered in rows of tea plants, with a narrow road winding through the landscape and a few scattered trees.

Serious about the leaf, in person

Plenty of brands talk a good game about sourcing, but we put in the work. We think you'll taste the difference.

We make the trip

We travel to origin, from the tea forests of Yunnan to Shizuoka, Japan.

We know the growers

Real relationships, going back decades, with award-winning tea gardens around the world.

We taste first

We cup every tea before we buy it, sometimes fifty lots to find the one worth bringing to your cup.

Who is behind this

Our founder Maria Uspenski started The Tea Spot in 2004, after loose leaf tea helped her through cancer recovery. She wrote Cancer Hates Tea, co-authored 101 Teas to Steep Before You Die, and gets called on by Forbes and Martha Stewart when they want someone who actually knows tea. That is the palate behind every lot in this collection.

Maria, at origin

Maria Uspenski leans over a large bunch of fresh green tea leaves, wearing a black sleeveless top, an orange scarf, and a colorful backpack against a textured metallic background.
Maria in Yunnan, China, where our Wisdom of the Ancients cake comes from.
Maria wearing a light blue hairnet, glasses, and a black t-shirt stands in a tea plantation holding a large, vibrant green bunch of freshly harvested tea leaves.
Maria in Sri Lanka in Lumbini Tea Valley, where Mary's Breakfast Tea is crafted.
Maria stands in front of a green tea plantation sourcing premium green tea in Japan.
Maria in Kyushu Island, Japan, where our 88th Night tea is grown.
